  • 2 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1 pound ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup frozen corn
  • Tomato paste
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Thyme
  • Smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Peel and cube potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender (15–20 minutes), then drain.
  2. Mash potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  3. In a skillet, sauté chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil until translucent.
  4. Add ground meat; cook until browned. Stir in diced carrots, peas, corn, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and stock.
  5. In a baking dish, layer the meat mixture followed by mashed potatoes on top.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
