Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into small chunks)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp yellow/white onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, onion, brown sugar, soy sauce, and water. Mix well.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat; pour in the sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes until it darkens slightly. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, coat chicken pieces with cornstarch. In another bowl, whisk the egg and then mix it with the coated chicken.
  4. In the same skillet used for the sauce, add avocado oil and heat over medium-high. Cook chicken until golden brown on both sides (about 10–15 minutes total).
  5. Drain excess oil if needed and pour reserved sauce over chicken; stir until evenly coated.
  6. Serve hot with garnishes of green onions and sesame seeds.
