Instructions

- In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear beef short ribs on all sides until browned (about 5 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
- Add butter to the same pot; once melted, add sliced onions and cook slowly over medium heat for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Stir in minced garlic; return seared ribs along with beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for about 3 hours until short ribs are tender.
- Remove ribs, shred meat from bones, and return shredded meat to the pot.
