  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (for dough)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 13 tablespoons whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherry filling by cooking frozen cherries, sugar, cold water, and corn starch until thickened. Allow to cool.
  2. Make the dough by dissolving yeast in warm water, then mixing it with milk, sugar, eggs, salt, melted butter, and flour until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about one hour).
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the cooled cherry filling evenly.
  5. Roll tightly into a log and cut into equal pieces.
  6. Place rolls on a baking sheet to rise again for 30 minutes before baking at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, prepare cream cheese frosting by beating together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to desired consistency.
  8. Once cooled slightly, drizzle rolls with frosting and serve.
