- 10 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Spices: cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves
- 2 chai teabags
- Cream cheese for frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices in a bowl; set aside.
- Cream butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one by one along with vanilla extract.
- Mix in buttermilk until smooth. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Bake for about 38 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While baking, prepare chai soak by steeping tea bags in milk; stir in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla once cooled.
- Poke holes in baked cake and pour soak over it; let cool completely.
- For frosting, brown butter in a saucepan; mix with cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy.
- Frost cooled cake generously and enjoy!
