  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional for heat)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp beef drippings (from slow cooker or roasting pan)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the brisket and pat dry. Season generously with salt and spices.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sear each side of the brisket until browned (4-5 minutes).
  3. Place sliced onions in the slow cooker, add minced garlic, then pour in beef broth and barbecue sauce.
  4. Add the seared brisket on top of the mixture. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until tender.
  5. After cooking, let the brisket rest before shredding. Toss in a butter-brown sugar glaze for added flavor.
